Recognises a business that has achieved success by identifying and then implementing an innovative idea. The innovation can be realised via a product, service, technology or process.

  • Describe the innovation. How is it unique/original? How did you identify and then implement your innovation?
  • How are you maximising and sustaining the benefits of the innovation for further growth?
  • How are you measuring the success and value of the innovation?
  • Describe any risks or challenges you faced in introducing this innovation. How did you manage them? What did you learn?

Excellence in INTERNATIONAL TRADE

Recognises a business that identifies and maximises benefits offered by trading in the global market place and achieves sustainable growth. International Trade includes both importing and exporting via a product, service or technology.

  • Explain how your business has grown and benefited through international trade. How did you identify the opportunities and what are your plans to expand on them?
  • What key factors contributed to your success?
  • What obstacles, risks or challenges did you face and how have you managed these? eg trade barriers, cultural challenges or unforeseen obstacles.

Excellence in CUSTOMER SERVICE DELIVERY

Recognises a business that has achieved success by providing excellent and sustained customer service, and demonstrates its customer commitment via its service policy, employee training etc.

BEST EMERGING BUSINESS

Recognises a business that has achieved significant business growth during the last one to three years as a result of effective planning and delivery. The business must have started trading after 31 March 2016.

  • How did you achieve this significant growth? What obstacles, risks or challenges did you overcome and how?
  • What you are doing to ensure business growth is sustainable.

Recognises a business that demonstrates outstanding customer and market insight and how the business’ marketing optimises performance and profitability and increases customer loyalty, retention, and satisfaction.

  • How has your marketing approach achieved success for your business? (Include short and long-term achievements or successes).
  • How does your business and its marketing plan respond to changing market expectations and buyer behaviour?

Recognises a business that demonstrates how their people practices and culture have contributed to the business’ outstanding success.

  • How do you promote diversity and foster inclusion in your workplace?

Recognises a business that has achieved success from developing and implementing a long-term strategy/plan as well as setting measurable goals/targets.

EXCELLENCE IN COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTION

The Westpac Business Award for Excellence in Community Contribution recognises organisations that implement initiatives that have a positive impact on the community and generate outcomes that have a long term benefit. Initiatives can include but are not limited to projects, programs, processes, systems, technologies, developments, ventures and undertakings.

  • Describe a community focused initiative you have introduced and how you measure its potential effect.
  • How does the initiative benefit your business?
  • How do you engage your staff in in this initiative?
  • How does your business support the industry you operate in?

 

 

 

PEOPLE’S CHOICE

Recognises a business that has achieved success based on those that matter most to them, their community, stakeholders, staff and customers.  Unlike the other categories that have an independent group of judges, this award is in the hands of the public through online voting.

NOTE: This category is ONLY open to those who have already entered 1 or more of the other existing categories in the Westpac Auckland Business Awards for 2019.
